Once upon a time, there lived an alchemist who lost his son. To overcome his grief, he began to create a human using parts of dead people. After many failures, he managed to create a human with emotions. They both lived together until the alchemist grew very old and died, leaving behind the human he created along with Roy, a parrot he had also created. Roy has six senses and can talk, although you need to wind him up periodically like a toy to keep his memories intact.

The human was found a few years ago and has been subjected to research until now, living perfectly without aging or showing any indication of emotional quotient. The laboratory places him and the parrot withQueen Jane, an aspiring writer who hopes to hear a good story that will allow her to be accepted by a publishing house, something she has failed at so far.

Jane welcomes them thinking their story would be beneficial for her without knowing much about their past or the laboratory that monitors the house. After they began living together, Jane called himWinter Woods. The story continues with Winter becoming fond of Jane, learning to feel emotions and becoming more human. However, becoming a complete human had as a consequence that Winter faced all the time he has been denied until now.

Characters of Winter Woods

Main Characters

Winter Woods

Winter Woods

Winteris an experiment by an alchemist gone wrong who has lived most of his life during the modern era in captivity and under the surveillance of scientists. Living most of his thousands of years isolated, away from humans, gives him his childish mentality and social incompetence. He can sometimes seem quite empty, but little by little he learns to express his emotions, both positive and negative, through Jane's influence. His oldest companion is an animatronic bird named Roy who was also created by his master.

Queen Jane

Jane Winter Woods

Janeis a future writer who has not yet succeeded in publishing her work. Her biggest struggle is trying to create original content and think of stories to tell, which she attributes to writer's block. Despite her constant failures, she remains a lively and energetic woman who shows compassion for those around her. Her passion for life is particularly appealing to Winter, as he is drawn to her light and energy to fill the empty space where his heart should be. She is the one who gives him his name and teaches him what it means to be human, through her own flaws, insecurities, and kindness.

Lev Zoe Claude

Zoe Winter Woods

Zoeis a mysterious man with a rather appalling work history, he is linked to Winter's origins in an unimaginable way. As the story unfolds, his turbulent past becomes clearer, even as he tries to change his dark habits. He cares deeply forAdoradespite the fact that his treatment towards her demonstrates otherwise. He is very interested in Winter and shows curious jealousy of this ability to become human and learn to love. Zoe lacks the same empathy and heart that Winter is slowly beginning to gain.

Adora

Adora

Adorais a blind girl who lives alone but often has the company of Zoe, whom she is in love with. She has a very sharp sense of smell that she uses to identify her surroundings and the people around her. She is kind and forgiving to the extreme, especially when it comes to Zoe.

Opinion about Winter Woods

This manhwa could be considered a romantic and positive version of Frankenstein, within reason. Winter was created by an alchemist and sent to live with a young writer, Jane, to see if he is truly alive and can be considered human. The story basically follows their life together. It’s the kind of story you can personally enjoy in terms of character development and design. However, I found the ending a bit rushed, especially for Adora and Zoe.
