Great news for all Yuri-loving fans of The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess! A few months ago, the official website announced that the anime adaptation of The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess (Hikikomari Kyuuketsuki no Monmon in Japanese) received its first full trailer and a launch date in October 2023. In addition to scenes featuring the titular vampire princess and her maid, the trailer includes a preview of some of the recently announced supporting cast actors.

The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess is a very popular Japanese light novel series originally written by Kotei Kobayashi and illustrated by Riichu. This work won the Excellence Award at the GA Bunko Grand Prix.

Returning to the initial news, a new promotional video of the project was revealed two days ago. The video confirms that the premiere is scheduled for next month in Japan, and shows a snippet of the musical themes, including: fripSide will perform the opening theme titled “Red Liberation,” while MIMiNARI will perform the ending theme titled “Nemurenai feat. Tomori Kusunoki.” We can also appreciate that in the promotional video we get a small idea of Komari’s life, who was born into a noble lineage but lacks confidence. She remains reserved until a maid appears in her life.

After three long years living the life of a reclusive vampire, Terakomari Gandesblood, better known as Komari, wakes up to find herself in the surprising position of Commander in the Mulnite Imperial Army. However, she faces the challenge of leading a troop composed entirely of rebellious individuals who will not hesitate to defy authority at the slightest sign of weakness.
Although Komari is descended from a lineage of vampires as respected and formidable as any, her rejection of drinking blood has transformed her into the embodiment of mediocrity: she is thin, clumsy, and lacks magical abilities. Faced with these adversities, will the loyalty (and slight infatuation) of her maid be enough to guide this hermit towards victory? Or will Komari regret the day she decided to abandon the safety of her room?
