Warner Bros. Japan and Wit Studio announced at their Anime Expo 2023 panel on Monday their original anime series titled Suicide Squad ISEKAI, based on famous DC characters, of which the protagonists so far are none other than The Joker and the unpredictable and iconic Harley Quinn.
During the announcement, we were shown the first trailer of the anime, where we can see The Joker and Harley Quinn animated in the utmost essence of a typical anime character design.

Harley Quinn, The Joker, and DC’s Suicide Squad rampage across the stage of ISEKAI in the new original anime series from Warner Bros. Japan and Wit Studio, Suicide Squad ISEKAI. When will ‘Suicide Squad ISEKAI’ premiere?
It’s too early to give a premiere date, but the release is estimated to happen between 2024 and 2025 at minimum, alongside the debut of Superman: Legacy starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan.

Eri Osada (Jujutsu Kaisen, Gintama episode director) directs the original anime at Wit Studio. Tappei Nagatsuki (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Vivy Prototype light novel writer) and Eiji Umehara (Vivy Prototype light novel writer) are writing the scripts. Manga artist Akira Amano (ēlDLIVE, Reborn!, Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective) is designing the original characters, and Naoto Hosoda (Seiren, key animator of Digimon: The Movie) is designing the characters. Kenichiro Suehiro (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Golden Kamuy, Undead Unluck) is composing the music. Shinya Tsuruoka serves as animation producer for Warner Bros. Japan.

Wit Studio is known for producing anime series such as Attack on Titan, The Ancient Magus' Bride, Ranking of Kings, Spy×Family, and the upcoming SPY×FAMILY Code: White anime film, among others. The company recently launched its own full-color vertical scrolling manga app, HykeComic.

DC Studios and their foray into the world of anime
DC Studios constantly has problem after problem regarding their audience and box office sales, so in rankings they tend to be at the lowest, regardless of the fact that they invest in making impactful advertising that raises expectations, they never fulfill them and only disappoint the public once more, as ultimately happened with The Flash’s removal from theaters.
However, we hope with anticipation that they don’t let us down again. On the other hand, the series directed by Eri Osada is not part of the official DC Studios, which means it's not within the universe built by James Gunn and Peter Safran, but rather resides in DC Elseworlds, where Matt Reeves’ The Batman or Todd Phillips’ Joker reside.
